Policy: The Fort Bend Independent School District Police Department expects its personnel to maintain high standards of appearance and conduct. The public similarly expects high standards. Through the lawful exercise of the police power, police officers wield considerable power over the citizenry, power that is carefully circumscribed by state and federal law, and, ultimately, by the Constitution and Bill of Rights. Powers to arrest, seize property, and interfere with the lives of citizens constitute a public trust. The Department helps ensure this trust by exemplary performance of its officers. Good performance on the part of the Department’s officers is not enough; they must strive to conduct themselves in an exemplary fashion in all facets of their lives. It is the policy of the FBISD Police Department that employees shall always conduct themselves in a professional and courteous manner and exhibit only that conduct which would exemplify the FBISD Police Department to both the community and other law enforcement organizations.

Purpose

The Rules in this General Orders Manual in their totality constitute the conduct expectations of all police department personnel.
